Federal prosecutors said Judge Hannah Dugan obstructed the federal investigation by allowing Florez-Ruiz to leave her courtroom through a restricted exit for jurors.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) released surveillance video that’s part of the evidence in the case against Dugan.
In the hours of footage, Dugan, dressed in her black robe, confronted federal agents that were sitting in the hallway outside her courtroom.
According to the criminal complaint, she directed the agents to go speak to the chief judge.
The agents then got up and walked away.
Prosecutors said at that time, Dugan directed Florez-Ruiz and his attorney to leave her courtroom through a jury door that’s not open to the public.
Footage then shows Flores-Ruiz, dressed in black, and his attorney leave through that door and make their way to the elevators.
That’s when footage shows one federal agent, who stayed back, follow them to the elevator.
Another security camera shows Flores-Ruiz and his attorney leave the courthouse with that agent still following.
Once they got outside, Flores-Ruiz took off running, but agents caught up to him and arrested him.
Dugan was arrested at the courthouse a week later. Her trial is set to begin July 21.
