Former Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota football player Jack Brewer expressed his views following the early-morning shootings that resulted in the deaths of one state Democratic House member and her husband, as well as injuries to another Democratic senator and his wife.
Brewer, who played four seasons with the Golden Gophers before starting his NFL career with the Vikings in 2002, criticized Governor Tim Walz, accusing him of permitting Minnesota to become “the capital of chaos.”
“We must begin to label this for what it truly is. These individuals have lost their sanity. I am devastated to witness one of the most remarkable states in America being completely transformed under Governor Tim Walz. Minnesota is in a state of confusion,” Brewer stated to Fox News.
“I played for the Vikings. I played for the Gophers. I resided in Minnesota for several years. It was not like this. People were courteous. Individuals could have differing opinions and still engage in dialogue. I still have numerous family members there, and it pains me to observe what they are enduring,” he added.
“Minnesota has emerged as the epicenter of disorder in America. This is unjust. It does not represent the genuine character of the people of Minnesota. There are many admirable individuals residing there. However, the liberal stronghold surrounding Minneapolis and St. Paul has taken control, and it poses a threat. Tim Walz is at the forefront of this. His attorney general, Keith Ellison, stands alongside him,” Brewer remarked.
Vance Luther Boelter, 57, is being sought in connection with the shootings, as reported by two sources familiar with the situation to The Associated Press.
Boelter obtained his Ph.D. in leadership for learning and service advancement from Cardinal Stritch University and was appointed to the state’s Workforce Development Board by two Minnesota governors, as stated by Fox 9.
He was first appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton in 2016 and was reappointed by Walz in 2019 as a representative from the private sector to the council. Boelter’s term concluded in 2023.
“I have activated the State Emergency Operations Center,” Walz posted on X shortly after the shootings. “Local law enforcement in Champlin and Brooklyn Park have the complete support of the State of Minnesota. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates soon.”
“Our state has lost a remarkable leader,” Walz expressed during a press briefing on Saturday morning. “Speaker Hortman was an individual who dedicated herself to serving the people of Minnesota with dignity, empathy, humor, and a commitment to service.”
