U.S. Representative Mary Miller (R-IL) is proposing legislation to designate June as “Family Month” in an effort to reclaim the initial month of summer from LGBT “pride” activists, as reported by the Daily Wire.
This legislation has garnered support from several co-sponsors, including U.S. Representatives Harriet Hageman (R-WY), Barry Moore (R-AL), Troy Nehls (R-TX), Michael Cloud (R-TX), among others. Additionally, it has received endorsements from various parental rights organizations, such as Moms for America, the American Family Project, the Family Research Council, the Eagle Forum, and others.
“The American family is under constant assault from a radical leftist agenda that aims to erase truth, redefine marriage, and confuse our children,” Miller stated to The Daily Wire.
“By designating June as Family Month, we reject the falsehood of ‘Pride’ and instead honor God’s eternal and perfect design. If we genuinely wish to restore our nation, we must unite to protect and uphold the foundation upon which it was established — the family.”
This resolution emerges as the Trump Administration has initiated measures to abolish the observance of identity months, including Pride Month, within the federal government. On Monday, the Department of Education proclaimed June as “Title IX Month” in acknowledgment of the 53rd anniversary of the legislation’s enactment and as a direct counter to the previous administration’s “Pride Month” policies.
Miller’s resolution dismisses the ideological gender principles promoted by activists over the past decade, according to the Daily Wire. It characterizes the traditional nuclear family as “the cornerstone of a healthy society” and asserts that mothers and fathers “play a vital and irreplaceable role in the upbringing of their children.”
Furthermore, it states that the “optimal environment for children to flourish is a household with a married mother and father” before addressing the concerning divorce rate in the United States and the unprecedented number of young Americans postponing or entirely forgoing family formation.
“The birth rate in the United States has decreased to a level below what is necessary to maintain the population and support the economy,” the resolution asserts.
“Pride Month was initially established in June by President Bill Clinton in 1999, a practice that has been continued by Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, who have dismissed the significance of marriage and family,” the resolution states, emphasizing that since that time, “Americans have been overwhelmed with inappropriate Pride Month displays and events throughout June that undermine the traditional family structure.”
Miller concluded by stating that the survival of civilization relies on the “perpetuation of traditional marriage and family.”
The resolution urges the House of Representatives to acknowledge the significance of the traditional nuclear family, the advantages of marriage for men, women, children, and society, and to cease recognizing June as Pride Month.
