Survey: Most Americans Back Trump’s Deployment of Natl. Guard In L.A.

A new poll by RMG Research reveals that 52% of registered voters support former President Donald Trump’s decision to send the National Guard to Los Angeles in response to recent violent protests. The poll, conducted Monday among 1,000 voters, shows 42% disapprove of the move, while 7% remain undecided. The survey results were first reported by the Daily Signal.

The unrest began following ICE operations in Los Angeles, sparking protests that escalated into riots. In response, Trump deployed an initial 2,000 National Guard troops, with an additional 2,000 later sent to support federal property and personnel. Over 100 arrests were made by Monday night.

Support for immigration enforcement efforts remains strong among voters as well. According to the same poll, 57% said they approve of ICE’s actions in locating and arresting undocumented immigrants in the city, while 35% disapproved, and 9% were unsure.

Trump addressed the situation, stating that Los Angeles would be “burning to the ground” without the National Guard intervention. He also criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass for their management of both the riots and recent wildfires, accusing them of incompetence in handling rebuilding efforts.

Notably, Democratic Senator John Fetterman broke ranks with his party, condemning the violent protests. On social media, he wrote, “This is anarchy and true chaos,” calling out fellow Democrats for not denouncing attacks on law enforcement and property destruction.

Attorney General Pam Bondi echoed similar sentiments during a Fox News interview, warning that those who attack law enforcement will face federal prosecution.
