Karoline Leavitt acknowledges that her position in the White House is not her favorite job, and a picture of her balancing parenthood and her duty as press secretary has gone viral.
Leavitt was photographed typing at her desk and feeding her nine-month-old baby Nicholas Robert Riccio, also known as Niko, only a few days before she celebrated her first Mother’s Day. Margo Martin, the president’s communications advisor and special assistant, grabbed the picture and uploaded it to her X account, calling Leavitt a “Super Mom!”
“Walked in to @PressSec typing with one hand, and feeding her son with the other,” Martin wrote alongside the image, which has since received nearly 60,000 likes and 10,000 comments.
Many were quick to praise Leavitt, calling her a “powerful woman and mom” and calling her a “boss mom.” Others, however, attacked the press secretary, accusing her of being “fake” and taking advantage of her little son for a picture.

“Staged photo. ‘Look at me ladies, I’m just like you,” says the woman making six figures taking a baby to the White House for a photo op,” one user wrote. A second user added: “Way to pose for a propaganda shot. And isn’t this every working mother?
“And while she enjoys the privilege of bringing her child to work, she’s the mouthpiece of stripping virtual work options for those who can’t afford to bring theirs to work. ‘Do as I say and not as I do.’”
One X user questioned: “Conveniently walked in at the perfect photo op time?” Another responded: “For someone who lies on a daily basis for her boss, this picture seems staged, fake, and artificial.”
Leavitt holds the record for being the youngest White House Press Secretary in history. But the 27-year-old recently talked about how motherhood has affected her and acknowledged that working for Donald Trump is not her primary priority, revealing a different profession that she loves more.
She told the Daily Mail: “I’m very blessed to have this job, and I love my job as press secretary, but my favorite job of all, and my top priority is my job of being a mother, and I have learned quickly how to prioritize my time.”
Leavitt revealed that she relies on her “village” of friends and family to assist her balance her work in the White House with raising Niko. She was married in January to Nicholas, a 59-year-old real estate entrepreneur, and her father, Bob, as well as her mother, Erin.
“It’s challenging,” Leavitt admitted, but told other women: “You can do it. Lean on your support system and prioritize your number one job, which is to be be the best mom you can be.”
