During his Senate confirmation hearing in February 2025, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the current Director of Health and Human Services (HHS), effectively dismantled Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) by accusing him of corruption due to his acceptance of substantial campaign contributions from Big Pharma, despite his self-identified socialist principles.
To provide context, during this significant confrontation, Kennedy referenced data from OpenSecrets that highlighted considerable donations to Sanders’ political campaign from individuals associated with the pharmaceutical industry. In response, Sanders argued that the contributions were made by employees rather than by pharmaceutical companies or political action committees (PACs), a claim that failed to persuade anyone.

@SenateDems did not fail to meet expectations … they all behaved like overly dramatic individuals. @SenSanders, however, represented a unique case of such behavior … he became visibly embarrassed when confronted about his hypocrisy regarding Pharmaceutical donations, and he blatantly lied on National television when he refuted it.
Continuing the thorough critique, the user remarked, “These are FACTS that are accessible to everyone and he lied. Subsequently, he was criticized for ‘badgering the witness’. @TheDemocrats have enjoyed their dominance for so long that they are unaccustomed to having their shortcomings exposed for all to witness,” further stating, “America, along with the rest of the world, is becoming aware, and all the flaws of the @DemSocialists @communistsusa on Capital Hill are becoming apparent. It is a remarkable sight to behold.
As we reported, during the hearing, RFK Jr strongly criticized the far-left Senator, asserting, “Bernie, the issue of corruption is not confined to federal agencies; it exists within Congress as well. Nearly all the members of this panel … yourself included, are receiving millions of dollars from the pharmaceutical sector and safeguarding their interests.
Clearly agitated, Bernie interrupted, saying, “I ran for president just like you. I received millions and millions in contributions. None of it came from executives. Not a single cent of PAC money from the pharmaceutical industry. It was all from workers.”
Not swayed by Bernie’s outburst, RFK seized the opportunity for a decisive rebuttal, stating, “In 2020, you were the largest recipient of pharmaceutical funds.” To which the far-left senator replied, ‘Because I received small contributions from workers across this nation.’ Workers. Not a cent from corporate PACs. … They came from workers.
Continuing his emotional outburst on X, Bernie stated, “0 donations from pharmaceutical CEOs. 0 donations from Wall Street CEOs. 0 donations from oil company CEOs. 8 million from working individuals contributing $27 at a time. I take great pride in that fact.”
